Brad and Belinda Seymour, Haasts Bluff, via Alice Springs, bought the top-priced bull from Trent Walker’s Keringa Angus stud at Culburra.
The top priced bull was Keringa Highlander K52, which was sired by Millah Murrah Highlander F32.
Mr Seymour said the sale topper was a “beautiful all-round bull, perfect for our breeding program”.
The Seymours use black Angus bulls and put them over Hereford cows.
The couple have bought from the Keringa stud before and said they were impressed by the bull’s quality and their temperament.
“They are very easy to handle,” Mr Seymour said.
“The calves coming out also have a very good temperament and they’re the perfect size for our girls, so we have easy calving.”
Keringa also sold a further two bulls at $7500 each.
SA breeders also achieved the next highest prices.
The Day family, Days Whiteface Poll Herefords, Bordertown, sold Days Flagship K194 to Undoolya Station, Alice Springs, for $8500. The stud also sold a further four bulls to $7000.
Tom Honner, Minlacowie Poll Herefords, Brentwood, sold Minlacowie Knight JHOK77 for $8500 to Orange Creek, Alice Springs. The stud also sold another three bulls to $7500.
