SA stud Allendale has topped the Herefords Australia National Show & Sale at Dubbo, NSW, with its senior champion Allendale Washington K5.

The 1040-kilogram bull had the largest eye muscle area in the shed at 144 square centimetres and on Tuesday caught the eye of buyers Tom Nixon, Devon Court stud, Drillham, Qld, and Jack Smith, Currabubula, NSW, who paid $47,000.
Allendale principals Alastair and Jayne Day, Bordertown, sold four bulls averaging $32,250.
SA also dominated in the show ring, with Days Whiteface stud’s Lachy and Lou Day, Bordertown, awarded intermediate and grand champion bull for Days Fleetwood K185, after also claiming the supermarket index performance class. The July 2014-drop bull was knocked down at $40,000.

For the second time in three years, Kerlson Pines stud, Keith, claimed the President’s Shield for the best team of three bulls, which went on to sell at $25,000.
