SA company PD Excavations has won a $1.7 million contract to upgrade a six-kilometre section of the RM Williams Way between Spalding and Clare, and a $1.2m contract to undertake shoulder sealing on a 15.8km section of the Farrell Flat Road between Clare and Hanson.
Services South East won a $1.8m contract to undertake stage two of the project, which includes upgrading 6km of the Laura to Gladstone Road (Horrocks Highway).
Another SA company Bitumax won a $1m contract for sealing 31.6km of road shoulder on the Spencer Highway between Port Pirie and Port Broughton.
The projects will support about 35 full-time equivalent SA jobs during construction.
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Stephen Mullighan said the roads were vital for our freight operators and primary producers, the tourism industry and the vibrant towns of the Mid North.
“Worth more than $5.7m, these contracts provide a further opportunity for local employment as we support more than 300 jobs by delivering more than 185 projects,” he said.
