From this week, botanic experts will hold classes on a variety of topics including plant propagation, the art of Bonsai, developing and cooking with a vegetable garden and pruning for fruit.
Sustainability, Environment and Conservation Minister Ian Hunter said the classes would allow people to learn from experts while networking and learning from likeminded green thumbs in a fun and hands-on environment, and stay up-to-date with the latest techniques in stunning botanic surrounds.
“There are opportunities for people of all backgrounds, from those looking to enter the horticultural industry, to the home gardener simply looking to spruce up their backyard,” he said.
“The Masterclasses also teach us important environmental lessons – by learning to propagate your own plants or by growing your own fruit and vegetables at home, for example, you can become a more sustainable citizen and save money.”
For more information on the 2016 Masterclasses and to register, visit the Botanic Gardens of SA’s website.
Five Masterclasses are open for registration, with many more to be added in the coming weeks.
Spots are limited so gardeners are urged to sign up fast.
