ALMOST 150 farmers, advisors and agribusiness people attended 2016 SA No-Till Farming Association conference at Tanunda last month, where soil biology and health was a major focus.
Guest speakers included United States microbiologist Wendy Taheri, who talked mainly on the role of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and how to enhance beneficial microbial activity in soils, while Bordertown farmer Ted Langley and WA farmer and innovator Mick Fels outlined their transition into precision farming and the improved results.
Mr Langley delved into the benefits of using discs, while Mr Fels discussed advantages of narrow row spacing and chaff lining.
Haydn Kuchel and Jason Eglinton also outlined the latest cereal varieties.
