The opportunity sale was held due to a loss of leased land, meaning numbers needed to be scaled back.
Overall, there were 111 ewes sold out of 176 offered.
The average on Poll Dorsests was $629 and on White Suffolks it was $540.
The top of $1200 was achieved twice. Both top ewes were knocked down to Eyre Peninsula farmer John Oswald, buying through Landmark Wudinna.
Mr Oswald, Yaninee, bought 22 Poll Dorset ewes in all and is a return client to the Newbold stud.
Another major buyer was Wayne Burnett, of the Munyallina Poll Dorset stud, Mount Pleasant.
“I haven’t bought from Newbold before but I thought it was a good opportunity to get some new blood in the flock,” he said.
Mr Burnett said he was mostly chasing Hillcroft Farm blood-lines at the sale.
All up, he bought 10 ewes to $850.
The major buyer on the White Suffolk ewes was the Fischer family, Ashmore White Suffolks, Wasleys.
The stud bought eight White Suffolk ewes to $850.
