It was not to be despite the wool classer scouring SA. But last Friday's event still attracted 90 fleeces with strong support from Kingston and Lucindale wool growers but also fleeces from Wirrulla on the West Coast.
Judge Andrew Keach, from Quality Wool awarded the grand champion fleece to an eight kilogram, 18 M ram’s fleece from AJ&PA McBride’s Konetta Station.
In a massive effort the McBride group of properties donated 25 fleeces.
Last year $3000 was raised from the sale of donated fleeces for the Balharry Memorial Kindergarten, Lucindale and Lucindale Area School, and organisers are hoping for another good total.
