In the breakdown, nine of 15 paddock-reared bulls found homes averaging $3411 – a lift of $636 on 2015.
The run of inconsistent seasons in the Adelaide Hills led the Taylor family to reduce their breeding cow numbers two years ago. But, their sale numbers will grow again from next year.
Four buyers secured bulls, including three from KI.
The $4500 top price bull was bought by long-time Kingarth supporter Lincoln Willson, MacGillivray, KI, who also bought the top price bull for the past two years. He was also the volume buyer, with four bulls averaging $3500.
The top bull, Kingarth K22, sired by Kingarth G83, was the pick bull by most people present. It was beautifully structured and balanced which carried through to its balanced figures.
Mr Willson’s other three bulls were equally as impressive in their figures and included the highest growth bull in the catalogue, K70, topping at +127 for 600-day weight.
Stephen and Jo Davidson, High Gums, Wisanger, KI, bought three bulls av $3167.
Dennis Wandel, Parndana, paid $3500, while Mel Brazzalotto, Strathalbyn, paid $3700.
