THOMAS Degaris & Clarkson auctioneer Darren Maney said the Naracoorte PTIC female sale met pre-sale expectations, but these had been lowered by the area’s lack of feed.

The biggest discount was for lighter heifers.
“Unlike weaners, these pregnant females really can’t go outside where there is feed,” he said.
“Ninety five per cent remained in the SE and will continue to have a lot more dinner times than dinners.
“But all the purchasers will be happy with what they have got in three months’ time, after it has rained.”
European Union-accredited heifers were keenly sought, including 194 Angus from Beniagh Pastoral Co, Penola, joined to Lawson Angus bulls. They topped at $1820, averaging $1563.
Kilcoan Partnership, Comaum, sold 91 Angus to $1840, averaging $1532, while ID&B Cobiac, Kingston, sold the $1600 top price PTIC cows – 12, 2011-drop Angus.
The best of the cows with calves from JS Schinckel made $1900.
