THE break in the season may have come very late but sheep and cattle producer Lyn Nitschke (pictured) is welcoming all of it.

Lyn runs Carlton Shorthorns and SAMMs on properties at Hanhdorf, Padthaway, and north of Broken Hill.
She said the Padthway property has had more than 100 millimetres of rain since it finally got a break in early June.
"It's coming along quite well for this time of the year," she said.
"We've had three or four frosts down there recently which has slowed feed growth up a bit, but as long as the rain keeps coming down things will be good."
Lyn also reported good rains at the Hahndorf property, but feed availability is an issue. "We're pretty short of feed at Hahndorf because by the time it started raining it was already pretty cold around here," she said.
"We had a frost a couple of nights ago but not too many so far and there's a bit of a green pick around.
"The livestock can graze a bit up here, but not for very long."
Lyn expects to feed hay right through winter, as is normally the case, but also reported good rains - though patchy - at their Broken Hill station.
Compared to last year, Lyn says rain started earlier in the Adelaide Hills so they had more feed to graze before it got too cold. "This season is coming along now," she said.
"It's been about average, but just a very late start."
