Landmark Mt Pleasant Anderson & Fawcett co-principal Colin Fawcett said it was surprising to see such a good crowd given the awful weather conditions on the day, but buyers were starting to show renewed interest in store cattle as the season develops.
"Cows certainly were better and stores are starting to get a bit of renewed interest as feed grows," he said.
"We do expect store cattle to be harder to find as the season goes on - so long as it keeps going."
The best vealers on the day came from CM Bond, Mannum, at $770 while trade steers made to $800 with B&MM Pitman, Birdwood, selling the best pen.
Bulls topped at $1000, and cows sold to $790 from RD&CF Andrews, Springton.
The top-priced store steers were sold by Hseager & Co, Mount Pleasant, at $650.
Sheep and lambs also sold well.
New season light trade sucker lambs sold to $108, and older lambs made $116.
Light new season lambs made $86, and Merino ewe lambs sold to $75.
