IF THERE is ever such as thing as a perfect sale, then the Kattata Well White Suffolk ram sale at Mount Cooper would have to be close to it, with buyers and vendors extremely happy afterwards.

In the lead-up there was an excellent crowd of prospective buyers. The season is very promising and the lamb market is 40 cents a kilogram higher than last year.
All 100 rams on offer were sold, allowing all budgets to be catered for.
The top price reached $2100 and the average $1004 - up $35 on last year, plus 30 more rams were sold.
Considering that last years' major volume buyer did not need rams this year, the result was excellent for principals Leroy and Rohan Hull and their family.
Buyers of the top-price ram were Ashley and Paul May, Mayome, Kyancutta, taking four outstanding rams averaging $1600 including the $1700 second-top-price ram.
The sale-topper was KW 120011, sired by Bundara Downs 9192, with outstanding conformation and a post-weaning weight of 13.8, Pfat of -1.0 and Pemd of +2.0, culminating in a Carcase Plus index of 196.4.
Pushing the Mays all the way were NM&RM Skinner, Ceduna, picking-up four of the best to the sale's third-top of $1650 averaging $1438.
The biggest volume buyer was Pitla Pty Ltd, Port Kenny, and buying through Eyre Peninsula Livestock, paying from $800 to $1400 for eight averaging $1075.
