CONFIDENCE was high at Yelta off-shears in Victoria on October 9, with young pastoral-bred ewes from Mutooroo Station, Cockburn, making the top price once again, at $167.

The run of 377 May/June 2012-drop, August-shorn, Mutooroo blood ewes were the first sold and went to Noel Hender, Joelda Pastoral, Swan Hill.
Mutooroo Pastoral Company - which offered nearly 6000 sheep in the 22,000-head offering - had a solid payday with sheep from its Mutooroo, Lilydale and Mulyungarie Stations selling to good competition.
Mulyungarie sold 403 ewes, May/June 2012-drop, September-shorn, to $140 to Elders Ouyen and Lilydale sold 432 ewes of the same description at $142 to Keith and Christine Fox through Elders Mildura.
Young ewes continued to bring solid prices with vendors' first runs attracting spirited bidding.
Avondale Station, Broken Hill, sold 375 May/June 2012-drop, August-shorn, Muloorie blood ewes at $140 through Elders Mildura, and Merngenia Station, Dawson, sold 390 April/May 2012-drop, August-shorn, Hamilton Run blood ewes at the same money to Elders Ouyen.
SJ&PJ McKeough, Cavanagh Station, sold 401 May/June 2012-drop, September-shorn, Springvale North blood ewes at $139 to Landmark Loxton, while Springwood Pastoral, Springwood Station via Wentworth, sold 388 June/July 2012-drop, September-shorn Anama blood ewes at $134 to Roger Wilkinson, Camborn Station via Wentworth.
The top breeding ewes at $97 were sold account Jascalim Pty Ltd, Tara Downs, Wentworth, on 198 April/May 2010-drop, August-shorn, Tara Downs-blood SAMM ewes.
IS&ME Jackson, Tirlta Station via Broken Hill, sold 302 November 2011-drop, August-shorn, Macquarie blood ewes at $90 to Elders Swan Hill, and Mulyungarie sold 691 May/June 2006-drop, March-shorn ewes at $78.
Wether lambs topped at $68.50 for 477 Dohne-cross April/May 2013-drop, August-shorn, East Bungaree blood from Arumpo Pastoral, Arumpo, Mungo, NSW, to Midfield.
