ASTUTE beef producers were spoilt for choice at the 36th annual Bundaleer Shorthorns Invitational Female Sale at Gulnare on Wednesday last week, which included guest vendor Bayview Shorthorn stud.

A reduced buying gallery allowed buyers to take their pick of high-quality females at value-for-money, with an 18-month-old PTIC heifer attracting top honours for the day at $3600. The bright roan heifer Bundaleer Derrimut H30 sold to Brian Mann, Manaroo Shorthorns, Walbundrie, NSW.
She was by Bundaleer Field Marshall F59, and embryos from her maternal grand dam had sold to Wavendon Shorthorns, Britain, with good results.
The next lot into the ring Bundaleer Approval Impost H33, sold at $3400 for the sale's second-top price. Vic breeders Neil and Sue Wharton, Eness Shorthorns, Cowwarr, picked up the April 2012-drop daughter of Field Marshall.
Neville and Anne Nicolle, Riverside Holdings, Parrakie, who purchased a total of 19 averaging $1034.
Sam and Tony Maguire, Smithton, Tasmania, secure dnine averaging $978 for their commercial operation.
In the wrap-up, 39 lots sold from 93 offered, averaging $1284.
