The first was the 2015 best Royal Adelaide Show photograph, going to Stock Journal photographer Jacqui Bateman for her front page picture of 13-year-old Angus Llewellyn, Willalooka, who won his first broad ribbon with bull Jillangus Jupiter J2 – the senior champion Red Angus bull.
Journalist Elizabeth Anderson then won best Royal Adelaide Show story for her piece on up-and-coming dairy breeder Tom Follett, Langhorne Creek, who recently re-established his grandfather’s Illawarra stud and was showing at Adelaide for the first time under the old Bremer View prefix.
Ms Anderson was also highly commended in the best rural journalist – print section.
Journalist Alisha Fogden also took out the best rural regional photojournalist award, while last year’s inaugural winner and former Stock Journal journalist Carla Wiese-Smith was highly commended.
