Toora stud Blackwood Park claimed three champions from five categories, with two cows back from winning in 2014, and a third, exceeding her reserve champion sash won last year.
Blackwood Park herdsman Rob Walmsley said it was exciting for Holsteins to be named champions for the second year in a row.
“It shows that the good stud cows can calve regularly and be producing as well,” he said.
Blackwood Park Godstar Bess picked up her second win in the mature cow section, earlier in the year winning reserve champion Holstein at the Royal Adelaide Show. In the lead up to the Semex competition Godstar Bess was milking 72.3 litres with 5.04 kilograms in milk solids at 24 days fresh.
Blackwood Park Reginald Nina 6916-twin was the runner-up in the 2014 three-year old competition, and this year won the four-year-old section as the highest point cow in the state.
Entry numbers rose this year from 130 entries and 17 breeders in 2014 to 165 entries from 24 breeders. They were judged by Lindsay Marshall, Yarunga Farms, Qld.
