Acting Water Minister Gail Gago said this includes credit for higher than usual water use and free replacement of fire-damaged water meters.
“We’ve all seen the devastation wrought by this terrible fire, and know that many in the affected area were on the frontline fighting to save their or their neighbours’ properties,” she said.
“Customers in the fire zone who used mains water to protect properties from fire, may be eligible for a reduction on their bill.
“I encourage these residents to contact SA Water when they receive their next account if they notice an increase in their water use when compared to the same time in previous years.”
SA Water is also offering to arrange water meter replacements free of charge, for any meters damaged by the fires.
“The fire burnt SA Water infrastructure in the region, including the Redbanks storage tank,” Ms Gago said.
“The tank has since been taken offline for repairs.
“Until the repairs are complete, customers will be delivered water from a different source, ensuring water supply is maintained.
“Extra SA Water staff have also been in the area over the past few days helping to restore water services and repairing leaking infrastructure.
“Customers in the fire zone are encouraged to check for water leaks on their properties, in case their internal pipes have been damaged by the fires.”
