The paper launched in October 2004, with a focus on how small and medium landholders could run a property profitably, efficiently, sustainably – and get some enjoyment out of doing so.
It was designed to match the unique requirements of newer and smaller property owners, and to be a practical, informative source of news.
A surge in popularity of ‘tree’ and ‘sea-changes’ has meant the publication has continued to thrive.
SA and WA Australian Community Media business manager Percy Henry said being a part of the greater Fairfax Media network gave smartfarmer a reach into every state, providing comprehensive coverage of national issues that affect SA producers.
He said smartfarmer’s award-winning team of journalists continued to place major emphasis on delivering high quality content in abundance to more people than ever before in whatever form required, on multiple platforms, anytime and anywhere.
“The way we gather and present this content has changed dramatically recently but our commitment to champion the causes of rural and regional people has never waned,” he said.
“I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new audience to our new ways of working and how we present our publication.”
While many changes have been made, as media is an ever-changing landscape, our commitment to readers continues.
As well as serving our readers, smartfarmer has also sharpened its focus on providing advertisers and business partners with enhanced opportunities to put their important messages in front of our growing audience.
We thank you, our readers, for your ongoing loyalty and support, and hope you enjoy the changes you see today.
As ever, we love to hear from you with feedback and story ideas.
