Communities and Social Inclusion Minister Zoe Bettison said the centre would open on Monday as the fire effort transitions from relief to recovery.
“Immediately after the bushfire was declared, emergency relief centres were set up in Balaklava, Clare and Gawler for people who needed emergency accommodation and support during the fire,” Ms Bettison said.
“Now the focus has moved from emergency relief to community recovery, a recovery centre will open at Gawler TAFE (43 High St) from 7am to 7pm daily starting this Monday, December 7.
“It will be a central place for the community to meet, access information, advice and support.”
The Balaklava emergency relief centre will close tomorrow.
Mobile recovery centres will also be established at Light Regional Council, Kapunda, next Thursday and Hamley Bridge on Monday.
These mobile centres will provide a weekly service thereafter, with the exact day/time each week to be confirmed.
Ms Bettison also reminded people a series of community meetings will be held in the affected area.
All members of the community are encouraged to attend the meetings, which are an opportunity for people to meet together, discuss issues and hear the latest information.
One is being held tonight at the Hamley Bridge Football Oval at Stockport from 6pm-7pm, while another is being held at the Freeling Recreation Park on Monday from 6pm-7pm.
