SA grain handler Viterra have established a national grower register (NGR) to coordinate raising funds for graingrowers and local communities affected by the devastating Pinery fire.

Viterra Operations general manager Tim Krause said there was overwhelming feedback from growers across the state who wanted to support and assist with the recovery effort.
“Everyone’s thoughts are with the people and local communities affected by the fire,” Mr Krause said.
“We are keen to help facilitate the fundraising and have established the Lower North Grain Growers Fire Fund.
“Growers can deliver or transfer grain to this NGR, which will then be sold for the best cash price on the day.
“We will liaise with growers in the region to determine how these funds are best allocated to the recovery.”
From a storage and handling perspective, Viterra is working closely with growers in the fire region to assist with their immediate needs.
Viterra has opened segregations for grain that has been impacted by the fires to provide growers with a delivery option.
Details about these segregations for wheat, barley, lentils and faba beans have been provided by SMS and are available on website ezigrain.
“Staff will be providing some on-farm sampling and assessment of affected grain to assist in determining the impact the fire has had,” Mr Krause said.
“Close contact is also being maintained with domestic end-users to provide assistance if required.”
Growers can donate grain to the Lower North Grain Growers Fire Fund by:
- Delivering a load to warehouse at any site using NGR 13637300
- Delivering a load to a cash price at any AOM site using NGR 13637300
- Calling the Viterra Service Centre on 1800 018 205 to do a warehouse to warehouse transfer to NGR 13637300
