CATTLE were red-hot at the Strathalbyn market on Friday, with both steers and heifers topping at about $3.80/kilogram.

Elders' Danny Reynolds said it was a very strong sale, in line with Naracoorte.
"The sale was supported by the recent rains around the place," he said.
Buyers came from a diverse area.
"There was a very strong South East presence," he said.
"Buyers also came from the Loxton area and there was good local restocker support."
Argat Pty Ltd, Kangaroo Island, sold 17 Angus weaner steers, March 2015-drop, at 267 kilograms for $1020 or $3.82/kg.
Raeburn Rural, Strathalbyn, sold 11 Charolais/Angus steers, March/April 2015-drop and weighing 280kg, for $1040 or $3.71/kg.
Kilchoan Partnership, Hindmarsh Valley, sold 14 steers, April/May 2015-drop, at 305kg, for $1120 or $3.67/kg.
Looking at heifers, RL&GK Willing, Myponga, sold 20 Angus heifers, March/April 2015-drop and Pathfinder-blood, at 248kg for $940 or $3.79/kg.
PTIC cows made to $1310, while cows with calves at foot made to $1700.
