The International Wool Textile Organisation held its 93rd annual Congress at the Adelaide Oval this week- the first time the congress has been held in Adelaide.
More than 350 delegates were in attendance from 23 countries around the world to discuss wool which now makes up less than one per cent of the global fibre market.
The two and a half day program included speakers from all aspects of the supply chain from the woolgrower to retailer, along with innovations in top making and scouring and the latest fashion trends and what they mean for wool.
IWTO chief Klaus Steger says many know wool is a "natural and sustainable" fibre but it will require the whole industry to work together to show wool's environmental and sustainable credentials.
"The EU is building up sustainability regulations so it is important that we manage to change the suggested rules in our favour because it is the truth," he said.
There were also plenty of social events included in the IWTO Congress program including the Great Australian BBQ featuring lamb and seafood on Tuesday night and a gala dinner on the Wednesday night.
