Agricultural students, and those early in their career, will be able to gain insights into potential pathways with the launch of the 2024 Student Compendium.
A collaboration between the Ag Institute Australia and the Adelaide University Agricultural Studies Association, the book brings together a list of potential scholarships, conferences, work experience opportunities and networks, to help gain a foothold in the industry.
"The compendium is a resource for people wanting to enter the industry or people early in their career to showcase the opportunities available and help maximise their potential," project intern Caleb Schwartz said.
He said the book worked out as a win-win-win, helping students find opportunities and helping business find suitable workers but it was also a bonus for the team of five students who compiled it together and gained numerous skills.
Compendium project officer Tayla Blight said the book was designed "not to be read through front to back, but flicked through".
"It is connecting students to industry and industry to students," she said.
Ms Blight said this year's edition had 450 entries, which was 50 per cent up on the 2023 version, with it growing every year.
While in its fourth iteration in SA, the compendium idea has gone national, with WA and NSW releasing its second edition and Qld and NT versions due out shortly.
This year's compendium was put together by Ms Blight, Mr Schwarzt, Emily Adams, Emily Pearce and Mackenzie Coopman.
The 2024 Student Compendium is available in a hard copy or via pdf.
