TWO boer goat studs battled it out for champion broad ribbons this year, but it was a strong buck from Victorian stud, Strzboer Goat Stud which took out the supreme title.
The supreme exhibit impressed judge John Falkenhagen, Meningie West, with its size and maturity at such a young age.
The supreme exhibit was earlier placed first in its class, 18 months and under 24 months, before being sashed senior champion and grand champion.
Under Mr Falkenhagen, three exhibitors paraded 35 entries, but it was the structure and strong performance of this goat which put it ahead of other entries.
"It is a big fella at 20 months old, his maturity is impressive," he said.
"I was judging on type and it was a square and compact buck."
The buck went against the grand champion and senior champion doe exhibited by Balmarden stud, Upper Sturt, which won its class, 24 months and under 36 months.
Reserve senior champion doe was won by Strzboer for its 12 months and under 18 months class winning exhibit. The reserve senior champion buck was awarded to Balmarden for its 12 months and under 18 months class winner.
In the junior champion judging, it was Strzboer which took home the champion title and reserve went to Balmarden. Both exhibits were pulled from the same class, kid 9 months and under 12 months.
The junior champion doe sash went to Strzboer and reserve went to Balmarden, these exhibits placed first and second in their class, 9 months and under 12 months.
