SA Santa Gertrudis stud Nangaringa was among the top prices received at the fourth annual Western Downs Santa sale held at the Dalby Saleyards in Qld on Friday.
The Fogden family made the trek with four bulls and two cow calf units, which both topped the female section at $8000.
They also sold four bulls to averaging $5500.
Overall, 66 classified bulls sold to $20,000 for a classified "S" bull, averaging $6951, while 12 commercial bulls sold to $12,000, averaging $4042, and two heifers sold for a top of $7000.
The sale resulted with 77 lots averaging $6519, representing 92 per cent clearance.
Topping the sale at $20,000 was Dundee 302 (P) - a powerful young sire by Rosevale Jubilee J172 (P) offered by Duncan and Kym McMaster, Dundee Santa Gertrudis stud, Inglewood, Qld.
It was bought by Matt Sargood, Nive River Pastoral Co, Dresnmaine Santa Gertrudis stud, Tambo, Qld.
Mr Sargood said the bull appealed for its tremendous bone and weight for age and breed character.
"It is certainly well balanced and has no major faults - and certainly held it together in the sale ring and will be used over stud females," he said.
The purchase price created a new sale record at auction for the McMaster family.
Next at $18,000 was Burramurra 340, a son of Restdown 141 (P) offered by first time vendor Mark Bazeley, Burramurra Santa Gertrudis stud, Moama, NSW, who attended the sale.
Burramurra 340 was bought by Scott and Rebecca Dunlop, Dunlop Santa Gertrudis, Proston, Qld.
Spokesperson on behalf of the vendors, Felicity Shaw, Glen Leigh, Deepwater, said overall the vendors were happy with the sale results.
Selling agents were GDL, with Peter Brazier and Harvey Weyman-Jones sharing the rostrum.
