HONOURED: Nuriootpa High School student, Madeline Hegarty, Greenock,was one
of only 27 students in the state to receive the 2016 Governor of SA Commendation.

HARD WORK: Neville Sharpe played a key role in the durum industry, helping to ensure there were no contamination issues by sorting seed in his shed at Two Wells.

HOLIDAY DESTINATION: Korean tourist Jini with William Venning and German tourists Olivia and Nina at the Venning farm near Pinnaroo 

WORLD EXPLORER: Deanna Lush will leave her Palmer farm behind when she heads overseas this year to research international agricultural communications.

RURAL CHARM: Harry Osborn, with grandchildren Coby Laszlo and Ava Osborn, on-site at Ossies Homestead Farmstay at Gulnare.

FACT SEARCH: Andrew May, pictured with a May Bros Seedsower built in 1887, has found his interest in family history turned into an eight-year project and two books on the state's history.


POPULAR CHARACTER: SA RIRDC Rural Woman of the Year Simone Kain, Penola, with the George the Farmer character she created with business partner Ben Hood.


EMPLOYMENT FOCUS: Industries manager Shane Fairlie says Cadell Training Centre's ag programs get prisoners accustomed to routine and working, and equips them with skills to potentially gain employment upon release. 

COMMITTEE MEMBERS: Booleroo Centre's Alice Nottle, Jodie McCallum, Nicolle Carey, Lynne Christopherson, Donna Hall and Meridee Groves were preparing Booleroo sheep race.


GIVING BACK: The late Ron Badman with a certificate presented to him by the Churchill Trust to thank him for sponsoring a fellowship. The Ron Badman Family Churchill Fellowship is awarded once every four years.


LATEST RELEASE: Author Bruce Munday with a copy of his new book Those Wild Rabbits, which was launched on April 7, at his publishers Wakefield Press.

LOVE WOOL: MiniJumbuk managing director Darren Turner with the company's first product - a handcrafted souvenir sheep and the 200-page Love Wool book launched last month for the 40th anniversary. 

GOOD TIMES: The Kangaroo Island Brewery opened a year ago, and owner and brewer Mike Holden says it has gone from strength to strength.
 

CHARITY TREK: Timothy and Noel Walker, Loxton, took part in a car rally from Adelaide to Cairns, Qld, raising funds for the Cancer Council. While they made it safely to Qld, their car broke down on the Oodnadatta Track.

RESEARCH FOCUS: Pinery farmer Derek Tiller's Nuffield scholarship focused on improving the resilience and other strengths in family-run enterprises.

SADDLE UP: Lower Lakes Stockman's Challenge entrants Caleb Pearce and Ashleigh Potts with Ledge the brumby and president Kathy Angel. 

TRADITIONAL TRADE: Graham Ferris, Mallala, grew up on a horse agistment property and pursued a 35-year career as a farrier. His love for the equine industry and quality shod horses kept his passion alive. 

MOMENTOUS OCCASION: Members of the first Women's Agricultural Bureau branch on October 30, 1917, at Riverton. The organisation marked 100 years in 2017.


HAPPY HELPER: Retired Crystal Brook farmer Trevor Greig is a familiar face at the show each year, lending a hand to get the job done 

LEARNING EXPERIENCE: Giles Oster, Pinnaroo, says the ambassador award gave him the desire to step up to become president of his local show. The ambassador program marked 20 years.

FOND MEMORIES: Keith Show publicity officer Amanda Kroehn says the rural ambassador award gave her skills to "step out into the big, wide world."

SIGNIFICANT YEAR: Riverland Field Days committee member and Waikerie fruit grower Anthony Fulwood was looking forward to the 60th annual field day on mid-September.

DEDICATION: The Margaret Hurst perpetual trophy was awarded in memory of the show stalwart by daughters Jane Dewing, Ann Hurst and husband Neil Hurst, to Vaughn Wilson, Wistow, who won first place for his fruit cake entry at this year's Royal Adelaide Show.

HIGH ACHIEVEMENT: Max Miegel, Murray Bridge, with Trent Mueller, Glenbrook, Murray Bridge, and cow Glenbrook Gracey 15. Max was the winner of the Department of Education and Child Development’s Trade Schools for the Future SA

TIRELESS CONTRIBUTION: Livestock SA immediate past president Geoff Power has been a tireless advocate for the state's livestock producers for nearly two decades. He says the organisation is in a strong position.

COUNTRY TIES: The time Richard Zachariah spent in the western district of Vic while
growing up inspired him to write the book 'The Vanished Land'. 

PREPARATION: Caudo Vineyards general manager Zac Caudo will participate in the Queen's Baton Relay for the Commonwealth Games as it passes through Renmark 

EAGER TO LEARN: Balaklava High School agriculture teacher Sue Pratt encouraged students Tom Gameau and Madison Bond to apply for the Food and Fibre Education SA Initiative camp to build confidence in selecting a career.


FASCINATING LOOK: Former PIRSA deputy chief executive officer Don Plowman said many hours went into putting the History of Agriculture website together.

WHEAT VARIETIES: Australian produce was promoted through wheat varieties on display at Australia House in London in 1932.

LANDMARK MOMENT: Tintinara agent Brenton Jones, who retired last month, says he thoroughly enjoyed his nearly 45 years in the business 

COMMITTEE MEMBERS: Nat Sommerville, convenor Pat Hamilton, Deb Baum, Kim Blenkiron and Jeanette Gellard were planning the Thriving Women 2018 conference.

NEW CHALLENGES: Former Sturt footballer and dairy cow breeder Mitch Crowden, Meadows, will put his best foot forward, donning the Fremantle Dockers uniform, after being drafted to the WA club.

JETSETTING: Jamie Hocking at home at Woolsheds with his dog Aggie, before he travelled to Paris to compete in international vaulting at the Salon du Cheval de Paris.
