THEY only had a few days to work together but the experience Abby Fouweather, Perth, WA, got from her borrowed Speckle Park heifer will be invaluable.
Ms Fouweather was in Adelaide last week for the SA Junior Heifer Expo, where she led Mt Eccles Sahara.
Despite her heifer being halter-broken just days before the event, Ms Fouweather, 15, is no stranger to Speckle Parks, having won the WA Youth Cattle Handlers competition with one, which granted her the scholarship to Adelaide.
It was the first time a Speckle Park had been shown at the expo and although the duo did not win any ribbons, she loved the experience.
“I had to focus on her more than myself, and I’m going to get more out of her than I would with a normal relaxed cow,” she said.
