Several significant sire sales were made at the Elders SA Stud Merino Expo at Burra this week, as studs splurged on top notch genetics.
The Sullivan family, Greenfields stud, Hallett, received $20,000 for a rising two-year-old Poll Merino ram bought by Graeme and Syd Lawrie, Collandra North stud, Tumby Bay.
The 20.7-micron ram, which has been used in the stud, was a son of Australian Sheep & Wool Show grand champion East Mundulla Jonty.
The Lawries were impressed by the 123-kilogram ram’s impeccable structure, growth and quality wool.
“We have had so much success with Greenfields rams in the past, which is why we keep coming back,” Syd Lawrie said.
