HILL-View Dohne stud, Streaky Bay, continued its positive progression, with its 10th annual sale, held on Friday, easily its best.
In a stellar sale, principals Peter and Heather Holmes sold 64 rams to $3500 and averaged $1510 – a lift of $160. Buyers came from across SA and western NSW.
Sired by Glenlea AL110090 – bought from the WA stud – the April 2015-drop sale topper had a 19.2-micron fleece.
The 100-kilogram ram had a 158.9 Dohne $ index, 0.9 eye muscle figure and 0.4 fat. It sold to Paul Webb, Eagle Ridge stud, Cowell.
Hill-View picked up three new clients, including volume buyer Everglen Ag, Lock, which bought six rams to $1600, averaging $1366.
Repeat clients TJ Patterson, Streaky Bay, also bought six rams to $1600, averaging $1383.
Other big buyers included Yawattip, Wirrulla, with five rams averaging $1140 and Deep Well, Streaky Bay, bought the same amount averaging $1520.
Four buyers bought four rams each. Three of these – AA Trezona, RF&LM Havelberg and T Hammatt – were from Streaky Bay, while Neville Simpson, Wudinna, also bought four rams.
Mr Holmes was extremely happy with the attendance and the total clearance.
