NUMBERS were up at the Mount Pleasant market on Thursday last week, with 268 cattle and 1148 sheep and lambs on offer.
The cattle yarding was more than double that of March’s market, with sellers hoping to capitalise on high prices and offload surplus stock.
MC,AD&CM Steinert, Eden Valley, made the top price for cows, selling five at $1600 to Princess Royal.
Matthew & Claire Pym, Rockleigh, topped the steer prices at $1390, also selling to Princess Royal.
The top heifer was sold by MJ Place, Rosedale, at $1140, and was bought by Meat Barn Murray Bridge.
Bull top price honours of $2000 went to C Schubert, Lobethal, who sold to Laidley Pastoral, Mount Crawford.
AM Sellars, Cromer, achieved the top price for cows with calves-at-foot, selling at $1480 to Laidley Pastoral.
Sheep prices were slightly down on Mount Pleasant's March returns.
Hoggets made to $82 for lots of five from RD&CJ Lindner, Palmer, and MJ Gray, Forest Range.
Topping the crossbred lambs at $125 were PE&LA Harrison, Springton, who sold to Thomas Foods International, while Mark Brown, Keyneton, sold 20 crossbred lambs at $120.
Ian Johns, Keyneton, sold a line of 36 Merino wether lambs at $80.
The top rams made $70, with AJK Pastoral, Myponga, and Paul Boucher, Springton, selling to TFI.
