THE largest commercial Alpaca auction conducted in SA was held at the Mount Pleasant market last week.
The sale of 111 Alpacas was the culmination of years of breeding by a Mt Crawford vendor.
Buyers came from as far away as Hamilton, Vic, Jamestown, Bowhill, Loxton, Barossa Valley and the Adelaide Hills.
Wethers sold to $220 and females $270.
Females with cria at foot made up to $240.
During the sheep sales, crossbred lambs sold to $136, while in the cattle shed, Sam White, Mt Pleasant, sold Angus steers to $690 and heifers to $730.
DJ&KN&BG Schutz, Mt McKenzie, sold lightweight Murray Grey store steers to $480.
