BUYERS from Yorke Peninsula, Mid North, Upper South East, Vic and NSW helped elevate the top price, average and clearance rate at Aylesbury Farm's on-property sale at Yurgo last Thursday.
Of the 93 White Suffolk and Suffolk rams on offer, 84 sold to a top of $2300 - up $700 on last year. The sale average increased by $35 to $820.
Buyers were especially keen to secure the White Suffolk rams on offer, with 74 of 78 selling.
After hectic back-and-forth bidding, the top price ram was secured by David and Jan Harrison, Nullawarra, Cobar, NSW, who plan to use the sire in their Janaree White Suffolk stud.
"We're trying to get the bare belly trait in our rams, and this ram will fit in perfectly with that," Mr Harrison said.
The July-drop ram had impressive growth figures, gaining 606 grams a day from birth to weaning. He rated 17.04 for post-weaning weight, -1.4 Pwfat, 0.3 PW eye muscle depth and scored 111.91 on the Lamb2020 index.
Fifteen Suffolk rams were offered, 10 selling at an average of $710. Four made the top price of $800.
