EWES topped at $120 at Jamestown market yesterday, despite a bigger than advertised yarding of 6000.
IA&MJ Klemm sold 200 ewes, April/May 2013-drop, June-shorn, Pindari and Glen Holme-blood at $120.
A large crowd of prospective buyers, onlookers and agents turned up.
The yarding came from the North West Pastoral, Northern Pastoral, West Coast, Southern Flinders, North East Pastoral, Adelaide Plains and local sheep.
Sheep were presented in reasonable condition for this time of year, most of the wethers were in strong forward store condition, while young ewes were in light condition.
Buyers attended from Deniliquin, NSW, Keith, Naracoorte, Barossa Valley, Adelaide Plains, Yorke Peninsula, Mallee, Southern Flinders and local areas. Not all bought but most were active in their bidding, which shows reasonable confidence for future sheep sales at the centre.
