LACK of buyers saw a low clearance at the Toldu Prime SAMM sale at Keith on August 19, despite a quality line-up of rams.
Altogether 16 rams sold to a top of $1800, averaging $707.
The top-price ram went to repeat buyers Trevor and Kath Pietsch, Bordertown, and was born a twin, with its brother retained by the stud.
Toldu co-principal Joan Oldfield, Keith, said a focus of the stud was breeding from twins to improve fertility.
She said there had been plenty of positive comments from agents and buyers on the quality of the line-up.
"As SAMM breeders, wool has always been an issue but at this sale we averaged 18.8 micron and a comfort factor of 99.6 per cent," Mrs Oldfield said.
"Buyers specifically came looking for white, bright wool."
Toldu has rams available for private selection.
Landmark Keith's Noel Evans said the rams had presented well, with good, large frames and quality wool. He said nearly all buyers were regulars from previous years.
The sale was conducted by Elders and Landmark, with Landmark's Richard Miller auctioneer.
