A MUCH smaller yarding of generally poor-quality local and pastoral-bred, mixed-weight calves sold to strong competition provided by a broad selection of agents, feeder and restocker buyers.
Agents from the Mid North and Adelaide Plains were prominent on the store condition calves available and
prices remained on a par with the recent strong sales.
McDouall Peak Pty Ltd, Port Augusta, sold five mediumweight Angus bull calves to $265, averaging $234 and three heifers to $275 to average $248.33.
Trade buyers were relegated to positions as spectators as the few lightweight vealers available were snapped up by
store buyers.
Quotations: Bobbies $15-$100, light $100-$350; medium $350-$450; heavy $450-$550.
