ANDREW Donoghue has joined the staff at Herefords Australia as the new commercial development officer.
Mr Donoghue’s role involves co-ordinating Herefords Australia’s black baldy trial, any new Beef Information Nucleus trials and building feedlot acceptance for Hereford cattle.
"The ultimate goal is to increase demand for Hereford cattle across the beef industry," Mr Donoghue said.
He was raised on the family property Toolangatta, near Coolah, NSW, where his parents produced stud and commercial Hereford cattle, Merino sheep and crops.
Mr Donoghue jackarooed at Rotherwood, Cassilis, NSW, and at Yarram Park, Vic, while studying at Marcus Oldham College in Geelong, Vic.
He worked in the family farm business until Toolangatta was sold in 2009, and then took up the role of business and product development manager for Practical Systems in Armidale, NSW.
"During my time with Practical Systems, I worked closely with stud and commercial cattle and sheep producers," Mr Donoghue said.
"My main focus was to ensure the Stockbook software was continually being developed to meet the needs of all our clients.
I am excited about my new position with Herefords Australia and I look forward to working closely with the board, staff and members."
