A STRONG NSW pastoral order drove up the average at the 34th annual Warrensville Poll Hereford on-property sale at Bordertown.
With most clients facing the hard reality of a lack of rain and overall shortage of water, stud principal Chris Steer said he was "very happy with the clearance and healthy average, considering".
Three states were represented by 22 registered buyers, and most were able to avoid any competition on their picks of the catalogue, with 16 bulls selling for the bargain floor-price of $3000.
Twenty-four of 29 pasture-fed bulls sold to $7000 averaging $3625.
Having previously bought Warrensville bulls, Alex and Diana Cowlishaw, Crookwell, NSW, took four sires for their 600-head commercial operation, Wooling Pastoral.
Paying between $4000 to $7000 for the three Warrensville Aberdeen B220 sons and one Grassmere Spark 555 son, the Cowlishaws were thrilled with their purchases. "We bought bulls in 2006 and have been very happy with the progeny so we are back to replace them," Mr Cowlishaw said.
The other noticeable volume buyer on the day was Braylon P/L, Leigh Creek, through Landmark agent Trevor Driver, taking home three bulls at $3000.
