AFTER an underwhelming sale in 2013, Cannawigra Poll Herefords bounced back with a near-total clearance and pleasing average at its annual on-property sale at Avenue Range on Wednesday last week.
Thirty bulls from 20 to 23 months were offered to new and repeat buyers.
Principals Katrina and David Copping sold 27 bulls for a healthy average of $4222.
The $6500 top price was hit three times.
Blue and Jen Barnard, Griffin Pastoral, Robe, bought one of the $6500 top-price bulls, a Yambro Velocity D32 son, Cannawigra D32 Velocity H75.
The Barnards bid throughout the sale, taking seven bulls averaging $3786.
Harlock Pastoral, Bool Lagoon, was another $6500 buyer. The Harlock family took the supplementary lot Cannawigra C245 True Grit H39, a Bowen Cowboy C245 son in the top 1 per cent of the breed for 200-day weight, and in the top 5pc for 400- and 600-day weights.
The third $6500 bull Cannawigra F04 Supernova H07 went to Ferguson Farms, Kalangadoo.
He was the heaviest bull of the sale at 986kg and in the top 1pc of the breed for 200-day weight with a Breedplan figure of +44.
