FEMALES met good demand but bulls did things a bit tougher at the Green Triangle Murray Grey Bull Sale at Western Flat.
The sale - hosted by Arki Murray Greys, Western Flat, with other vendors Beeamma, Western Flat, and Eylwarra Sands, Lucindale - sold 10 bulls from 34 at auction, to $3000 twice averaging $2600.
Commercial females achieved a commendable $1200 top for five PTIC heifers averaging $886 for 29 sold from 32, while just four elite stud females were offered, with two selling at $1100 and $1050 each.
The top commercial females were sold by Geoff and Kate Buick's Arki stud and purchased by Tom and Diana Knowling, RAC Knowling & Co, Mundulla.
The five silver heifers, 22 to 24 months, had been depastured with Arki Fast F41 and then Arki Gravity Control G11 and were PTIC.
The Knowlings purchased 12 females including five silver PTIC heifers from Anthony and Denise Fabris' Beeamma stud at $850 and two more grey PTIC heifers from Arki at $800.
They were also the successful purchasers of one of the top bulls, Eylwarra Sands Heavy Duty H52, at $3000 from Nigel and Gina Eylward.
Heavy Duty H52 was an April 2012-drop son of Woodbourn Warrior A69 from an Eylwarra Sands Zone Z72 daughter.
He recorded raw data including a 103-square centimetre eye muscle area, intramuscular fat of 4.2 per cent and rump and rib fats of 8 millimetres.
The other equal-top-price bull was also sold by Eylwarra Sands.
Eylwarra Sands Humdinger H6 (AI)(ET) was a March 2012-drop son of Monterey Bandleader and from Eylwarra Sands Roxanne F7 and sold to BN&LK Luke, Naracoorte.
