Residents in the southern Flinders Ranges town of Quorn say their main source of water is undrinkable and also responsible for the deterioration of appliances and skin rashes.
Reports from SA Water acknowledge it has a high level of salinity, while a survey by SA Water of the residents showed 97 per cent chose not to drink from the mains.
But there are no plans to improve the water source, with an SA Water spokesperson saying the "cost per beneficiary" of constructing a desalination plant in the area would be too high, due to the smaller population.
Quorn residents have begun a campaign, which included residents travelling to Adelaide to show some of the impacts at SA Water and an "Unthinkable. Undrinkable" advertising campaign in metropolitan media.
This is not the only community to complain about water quality with Coober Pedy also having issues in the past.
