CHARGING rams were eager to spin through the auctioneering pen at the Jandebrey White Suffolk's 24th annual ram sale on Wednesday where a full clearance was made of 72 rams.
Pen 15 carried the top price ram which made $2000, and the sale averaged $1086, $4 back on last years sale average.
It's sired by a syndicate of Baringa 18/0124 and 18/0175 and it's buyer Sheoak Pastoral, Pine Point, had been buying from the stud prior to their first ram sale.
Buyer Nick Clift, Pine Point, said the ram was the best one through the pen.
"It looks good," he said.
"It's quite square, quite solid and quite deep.
"It's a nice looking ram with plenty of potential.
"We will put it over our commercial Merino ewes in October."
He said the rams were reliable.
"We know what we are getting each year," he said.
"The rams always good because we always have early lambs."
Jandebrey White Suffolk stud principal Geoff Stock said the sale was solid.
"It was better than I imagined for this year," he said.
"The season has been fairly wet and cold here and it's been very hard to get rams of top quality this year.

"Everyone was happy and having a total clearance is the number one aim for us, so very happy with that."
He said he thought lot 15 was the best ram in the sale.
"I didn't imagine he'd make $2000 but it will grow out," he said.
"But we are very happy with that - Roger Clift has been buying with us for years.
"We appreciate Roger and Nick - they've been fantastic clients of ours for a long time."
Taking home bulk numbers was stock agent Mark A Carter & Co, Ardrossan, with 10 ram to a top of $1500, and an average of $1130 which he split between a multitude of clients after the sale.
Meanwhile, Listowel Farming, Maitland, took home six rams to a top of $1300 and a $1100 av.
Mr Stock said volume buyers were valuable to underpin the sale.
"There are so many going out of stock on the Yorke Peninsula," he said.
"It's a breath of fresh air to see new buyers too."
Nutrien auctioneer Glen Keast, said it was a good sale.
"The right amount of people were here for the right amount of rams," he said.
"A full clearance is what we want to be achieving and the prices topped out at $2000."
"The top price buyer has purchased a very good ram - for the quality ram he got at $2000, he got himself a bargain.
"The length of loin and rump conformation he's purchased will do well."
The sale was run by Tony Clark, Wardle Co Maitland and Damien Bennett and Julian Burke, Nutrien Livestock, Minlaton, with Nutrien's Glen Keast taking care of the auctioneer duties.
