Crossbred lambs to $190
Prices reached $190 at Murray Bridge's first prime and store lamb market of the season on Monday, which set the benchmark for the season ahead.
Elders livestock manager Scott Eichler, Murray Bridge said the sale was good with strong competition for the store job.
"The export market was back on last year so our sale has reflected that," he said.
"The season ahead is very much unknown, especially with all the uncertainty around the world.
"But I think like most years, the first money is the best money."
Keller Livestock Nutrien Murray Bridge livestock agent Mark Thurston said he was impressed with the yarding line-up.
"The store job was really up and we were really happy with that," he said.
"We probably didn't have the weight in the lambs but we are happy with the top.
"It's sort of hard to get a gauge at the moment because we're one of the first ones around and there's not many suckers coming on, but from now they will really start to go.
"I reckon prices will probably firm where they are as there are more numbers coming on the market."
He said the sale had set the benchmark for the season ahead.
