There was strong support for the early new season crossbred lambs but older lambs, mutton and Merino lambs were generally cheaper at the Ouyen, Vic, Livestock Exchange sheep and lamb market on Thursday.
On offer were 9674 lambs and 2222 mutton, with older lambs firm to $10 cheaper, Merino lambs $10-$15 cheaper and mutton firm to $20 cheaper.
In the new season crossbred lambs, those suitable for export sold at $190-$220 ($6.60-$7.80/kg), trade made $169-$185 ($6.80-$7.30/kg) and lighter store lambs were $154-$174 ($8-$8.60/kg).
Hunt Pastoral, Meringur, Vic, sold 83 crossbred suckers to the top price of $220, while Latta Farming, Walpeup, Vic, sold 20 at $216 and another 51 at $205.
M Lynch, Kiamal, Vic, sold 23 at $215, Waymel, Ouyen, had 73 make $212, and D&J Jonasson, Cowangie, Vic, had 28 make $210.
Older lambs for export were $190-$256 ($6-$6.80/kg); trade $160-$190 ($6.80-$7.40/kg); lighter Merino lambs made $120-$155 ($6.20-$6.50/kg) while the heavier offering was $170-$203 ($6-$6.30/kg).
MG Lynch, Morkalla, Vic, sold 44 older crossbred lambs at $256; Stratton Meadows, Speed, Vic, sold 69 at $250; Kerribee Pastoral, Gol Gol, NSW, sold 126 at $246, as did M Pohler, Kiamal, while IC&BJ Brown, Lameroo, had 97 make $242.
MG Lynch also sold 20 Merino lambs at $215; Pohler had 43 make $203; and IB&S McVicar, Underbool, Vic, sold 70 at $202.
A run of 61 Dorper lambs from R Harris, Mungo, NSW, sold at $214, while 107 Dorper from Glen Esk Pastoral, Wentworth, NSW, sold at $198, and 16 from Larwood, Wentworth, made $196.
Serenity, Meringur, Vic, sold 93 Dorper suckers at $187.
Lighter mutton sold at $110-$138 ($4.80-$5.20/kg) with the heavies $144-$159 ($4-$4.80/kg).
In the mutton, MV Curtis, Wargan, Vic, sold 20 at $159; O'Shannessy Farms, Walpeup, sold 110 at $158.
M.U.T, Tempy, Vic, and N & K Watson, Murrayville, Vic, each received $156, for 66 and 30 respectively.
