In March last year, during the then-Liberal government term, it established of a parliamentary Select Committee Inquiry to allow landholders to have their say on the process of land access for mineral exploration companies.
The push behind this largely came from Independent Geoff Brock after the government slid into a minority government mid way through the year, and had the support of the Labor opposition.
The six-person cross-parliament committee was made up of Mr Brock, Liberal-come-independent member for Narungga Fraser Ellis, Liberals Peter Treloar and Steve Murray, Labor member for Giles Eddie Hughes and then-opposition spokesperson for mining and energy Tom Koutsantonis.
At the time, Mr Koutsantonis was in favour of the consultation.
"I think a Select Committee can help hear people's concerns and there might be a remedy we can come up with that doesn't harm the mineral sector or in any way harm agriculture," he said.
In May this year, the select committee released its findings, including six recommendations.
