At just eight years old the youngest SA Junior Heifer Expo participant Sophie Wilson is loving every minute, as she follows in her mother Kimberley Wilson's footsteps.
The expo has brought many highlights for Sophie so far this week, in particular the opportunity to lead her heifer, Warrawindi Slowpoke.
Through the event, entrants like Sophie and her sister Addison, 9, will be educated on various topics, such as stockmanship and show preparation, while meeting a variety of likeminded people.
Having grown up herself participating in the Heifer Expo, Ms Wilson is still enjoying being involved in the event.
"I probably started when I was 13 and all my family have done it as well," she said.
"I still love it and I'm glad the girls love it too."
Heifer Expo publicity officer Katelin Davies said people had come from far and wide to participate in this year's event.
"Of the 171 participants, 22 of them are from interstate and that includes WA, Qld, NSW and Vic," she said.
Ms Davies said she hoped through participating in the expo, the children enjoyed the educational and social benefits it had to offer.
"Getting the kids out, giving them every opportunity to be around cattle and meet like-minded children from all over," she said.
The Heifer Expo concludes on Thursday and has already brought lots of smiles to many faces this week.
