EIGHT finalists from South Australia are in the running to win one of Australia's most prestigious Landcare awards.
Ranging from passionate landcarer Liz Rowe undertaking remarkable bushcare work spanning over 1464ha of native bushland, to the children of Guardian Childcare and Education St. Clair's work on the Bringing Back the Butterflies program, the state's most accomplished landcare champions will travel to Sydney for the 2022 National Landcare Awards Gala Dinner next month where the winners will be announced.
Kanmantoo Callington Landcare Inc, Agriculture Kangaroo Island, Victor Harbor Coastcare, Salisbury East High School student Sharif Noorzai, Ngarrindjeri story-teller and educator Mark Koolmatrie and Barossa Bushgardens are also among the finalists.
Landcare Australia CEO Shane Norrish said he was thrilled to see such incredible examples of landcare leadership in South Australia, and how it has benefitted both local communities and environment.

"In these challenging times it is fantastic to see dedicated landcarers like these eight finalists continuing to overcome obstacles to promote biodiversity, sustainability and resilience, and create positive change in South Australia," he said.
"Their collective success all while facing bushfires and drought, showcases the breadth and impact of landcare work being done across the state to combat climate change, protect our waterways, bring communities together, and so much more.
"These are landcare champions who go above and beyond in caring for our land and supporting our communities. Strong leaders must be recognised and celebrated, and this is exactly what the 2022 National Landcare Awards seeks to achieve."
Now in its 30th year, the National Landcare Awards will be held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney on Wednesday, August 24.
