A lengthy, half-brother to a $52,000 sale topping bull has taken out the supreme sash in the cattle ring at this year's Alice Springs Show.
Breeders from across SA and NT competed for the supreme title but it was Days Isidore R213 from Bordertown-based stud, Days Whiteface, that muscled out the rest to take out the win.
The July 2020-drop bull, won its Poll Hereford class, bull of 18-24 months, and breeder Lachy Day was pleased with the result.
"I hope he continues to breed solid weaners and bullocks that the clients up north are looking for. It will fit into their program well," Mr Day said.
"It had a strong top and structural soundness."
Sired by Allendale Heidelberg M061 (PP) and out of Days Dallas, its Estimated Breeding Values included +3.2 for calving ease, +1.9 birth weight and +30 for 200-day weight.
It also recorded +49 for carcase weight.
Days Isidore is up for sale at the 50th Elders Alice Springs sale today.
The reserve bull sash was won by NT Department of Education trainer-assessor Danielle Brown and a team of high school students.
Brahman bull, Emmett, from WTW Brahman stud at Ammaroo Station was led by Centralian Senior College student Tavian Symons.
It won its Brahman class of bull - under 18 months and the NT bred bull - under 18 months class and then onto reserve.
The May 2021-drop exhibit weighed 390kg.
Ms Brown said it was a "nicely" packaged bull.
"It was structurally sound and showing good masculinity early on.
"It will mature into a very nice bull."
The team also won supreme female with their Brahman exhibit, Esther.
The April 2021-drop weighed 372kg and was bred by WTW Brahman stud's Will Weir at Ammaroo Station.
Ms Brown said the supreme heifer was the pick of the females that were considered for showing.
It won the NT bred female - under 18 months class and was commended for its softness by judge, AuctionsPlus representative Tammy Robinson, Lower Cressbrook, Qld.
"This female will go onto produce very nice calves," Ms Robinson said.
