Factory ripe for a new role

A former cooperage in the heart of the Barossa Valley is being offered to market and could provide the new owner with a myriad of options.

The Keg Factory was well known in the region for producing hand crafted port and spirit kegs, using authentic techniques and team members taking great pride in their work.

The meeting, office and working area currently comprises approximately 700 square metres and the site totals just over two acres (0.8 hectares).

The property is opposite St Hallett cellar door and winery and is easily accessible from the Barossa Valley Way - the well-travelled and primary route connecting towns in the valley.

The majority of the cooperage equipment is to be sold separately.

This may be acquired in the event a purchaser wanted to re-establish a cooperage.

Alternatively, clearing the facility of equipment may provide a blank canvas to utilise the existing building for other uses, subject to planning consent.

Factory ripe for a new role

Agents selling the property have noted that the location and type of existing building may lend itself to a creative buyer who may want to offer local produce in an 'industrial' style building.

They also note many successful collaborative ventures in other parts of the state have recently focused on local tasting experiences with multi product or service offerings.

The site may offer other opportunities for product storage or small manufacturing activities similar to those previously conducted given the high clearance storage space and cool room.

The site is bordered on the eastern side by a few vines and there is space for further outdoor use to enjoy the setting and tranquility.

The property is being offered for sale by way of best offer closing Friday, June 10.
