A total of 36 from 37 Angus bulls were sold through auction at the sale complex near Naracoorte on Wednesday, to an average of $10,139 and a top of $20,000.
The last of its kind before the stud's final autumn bull sale earl next year, local competition was strong, with all registered bidders hailing from SA.
Lot 31, Stoney Point Rotator R424 was the top price bull on the day, knocked down at impressive $20,000 to a South East operation.
Sired by Stoney Point Reality M918 and out of Stoney Point Blackbird N323, the bull is a trait leader in a number of estimated breeding values including mature cow weight at +122 and scrotal circumference at +3.1.
It has scores of +54, +97 and +130 for 200, 400 and 600-day weight respectively, +7.3 for eye muscle area and +0.5 for rib fat.
The bull was sold to the Phillips family of Erewhon Pastoral, Penola, who came to purchase the best bull of the day according to Michael Phillips.
"We weren't expecting to spend as much as we did for the bull, but we're happy with the purchase," he said.
"This is our first time purchasing from the ready to work bull sale from memory which was a great option to pick up bulls a little later than we normally would.
"We wanted a smaller bull to put over our heifers this year and that's what we got."
Stoney Point stud manager Peter Colliver said he was pleased with the strong competition and solid prices during the day's auction.
"I think it was good to see some return buyers and also some new clients coming along today," he said.
"We presented the bulls in genuine, ready to work condition coming straight out of the paddock with no grain or silage in their feed which we think shows their on the money and ready to go out and do the job for people.
"Curve bending bulls with good calving ease and strong growth figures were the big sellers today and we were happy to have them on offer."

"We weren't expecting to see such a jump in top price this year compared to the last few sales, but (Stoney Point Rotator R424) is just a very good bull and bidders knew that.
