NEARLY 40 years in Stock Journal, farmers received good rains to break the drought during seeding, however the relief was short-lived.
Lambing was under way, but the large falls also brought about sheep and cattle deaths from salmonella and pregnancy toxaemia.
A number of shows and sales were on, including Gawler pig sale, Gepps Cross market, Keith restockers sale, Naracoorte Shorthorn bull sale, Guernsey Society field day, while Bennetts Farmers Strathalbyn held a dairy sale.
Stock Journal caught up with entrants in the farm innovation competition, while also visiting Roseworthy College to see what students were up to during seeding.
A new slaughterhouse was also opened at Ceduna, while there was also a push on to lift a restriction on late night meat sales.
